Connecting your Relay to a WiFi network can help provide extended coverage, especially indoors. This article details the steps to connect your Relay to a WiFi network!

This capability is only accessible to Owners and Admins on an account. Account Users will not have access to this function.

Steps

  1. Start by opening the Relay app
  2. Under the Direct Chat list, tap on the Relay device
  3. Tap on the Settings icon at the top of the screen
  4. Tap on WiFi
  5. Tap on the name of the WiFi network you wish to connect to
  6. Type in the password for the WiFi network
  7. Tap Connect

If you tend to visit locations with little or no cell signal where there is WiFi available, you can still connect your WiFi to the network even if your Relay is offline (powered on with no signal).

  1. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
  2. Open the Relay app
  3. Under the Direct Chat list, tap on the Relay device
  4. Tap on the Settings icon at the top of the screen
  5. Tap on WiFi followed by Manage WiFi
  6. Tap on the name of the WiFi network you wish to connect to
  7. Type in the password for the WiFi network
  8. Tap Connect

Additional Notes

  • The Relay does NOT need to be online (have a solid data connection) to be able to connect to a new WiFi network, but the device does have to be activated and powered on
  • Relay is unable to connect to the following networks: Guest WiFi accounts requiring a password or acceptance of terms and conditions (Captive Portal Networks), hidden networks, and networks using a 5 GHz frequency.
  • For connecting to a WiFi network while offline, the Relay device must be on ROM 344
